From the "Breakout" trade: "With the Avengers disbanded following an attack by one of the team's oldest members, a shadowy villain has taken advantage of their absence to initiate his ominous plans.  Employing Electro to disrupt the electrical systems of the maximum-security prison known as the Raft, hundreds of super-powered villains are freed to wreak havoc on New York.  Without the Avengers to answer the call, a group of heroes must form a makeshift alliance to subdue the rampaging villains and save the city."

Second Printing Variant

The character posing amongst the New Avengers in the second printing variant never actually made it to the pages of the title. Thought by some to be Ronin wearing an early costume design, the mysterious individual remained unnamed, until he resurfaced in the pages of Uncanny X-men #11 (2013). His identity was revealed in issue #22 (2014) as none other than Hank McCoy, the Beast from the Age of Apocalypse.
