This special also marks the official first appearance of the Watchmen, since it was released prior to their renown maxi-series. Dr. Manhattan (John Osterman), Nite Owl (Daniel Dreiberg), Silk Spectre (Laurel Jupiter), Ozymandias (Adrian Veidt), Rorschach (Walter Kovacs), and The Comedian (Edward Blake) make their debut in this issue.
