A space capsule streaking through space and preparing to re-enter the Earth's atmosphere after its mission to Venus, narrowly misses collision with a small asteroid. A larger meteor, however, crashes with the asteroid, and the resulting shockwave bathes the space capsule with powerful radiation that also strikes at Toto, the Chimpanzee who is the sole crew member of the Venus probe.

Upon hearing the news, Superman flies off to space in order to prevent the out-of-control capsule from burning up on re-entry. After successfully landing the probe at the NASA Spacecraft Center, everyone readies to open the capsule, only to find that Toto has been transformed by the radiation into a gargantuan Ape bent on destruction: Titano! And its first victim? Lois Lane!

Can Superman rescue Lois from the feral beast before the military strikes with destructive force, or will he realize too late that Titano's transformation has granted him deadly powers?

Also featuring: Perry White and Lois Lane (reporting for WKFA-TV, not for the Daily Planet).

The World of DC Comics: Daily Planet, NASA Unmanned Space Station (it is unclear if it is located at Cape Kennedy as in "The Force Phantom," in the outskirts of Metropolis as in "The Threat Of The Thrutans," or if it's an completely different facility).
