Although the Monday-through-Saturday Spider-Man strips were a single-row in black and white, the Sunday strips were in full color and with a three-row layout, much more similar to a standard comic book page.

Everyone in the office is walking on eggshells, because they know what is about to happen. Well, everyone, except Robbie Robertson, who cannot help but take the whole thing with a sense of humor!

- "Mornin' J.J. --You've got a visitor in your office."

- "A visitor? How'd he get in? Miss Brant! You know I don't see

anyone without an appointment! And I don't make appointments!"

- "I --Couldn't quite keep him out, sir."

Jonah opens the door to his office, only to see his nemesis, Spider-Man hanging from the ceiling. The wall-crawler welcomes Jameson with an irreverent salute. 

- "Oh no? Well, I'll get rid of-- YOU!"

- "You were expecting Muhammad Ali?"

The aggravated Jonah starts screaming, and yells at Spider-Man with a threatening tone, ordering him to get down immediately. Will Spidey comply?

- "You misanthropic masked moron!

Get down from there before I--"

Once inside the building, Jonah Jameson is greeted by the security guard, who has nothing but a courteous and upbeat demeanor, only to be shut down by "the ogre," as Robbie Robertson calls him.

- "Morning, Mr. Jameson. Lovely day, isn't it?"

- "Compared to what? The city's bankrupt! The streets are

a jungle! You can't even see the pollution --because of

the smog! We haven't had a nice day since Herbert Hoover!"

Despite his bad attitude towards the world, Jonah sees one ray of hope now that he has forced the United Nations to invite Doctor Doom. If he can convince the ruler of Latveria to get rid of Spider-Man, his days will be much happier --or so he believes.

- "But things'll start looking up once Dr. Doom gets here!

I'll find some way to make him lean on that slimy Spider-Man!"

Meanwhile, upstairs, inside Jonah's office, Spidey waits. His spider-sense goes off as if the most terrible menace is about to strike him; and it might, after all, Mister Jameson has arrived!

- "My Spider-Sense-- starting to tingle! It means

an enemy's near! It's Jameson, at last!"

This is the first time that Spider-Man is not featured in his own strip; however, Senior Editor Robbie Robertson makes his first appearance. He asks Betty Brant why she looks so distraught, to which she responds that Spider-Man is around. They both know what this means once the boss finds out!

- "What's wrong, Betty? The ogre in one of his usual moods?"

- "He's not in yet, Mr. Robertson! It-it's worse than that!

I j-just saw-- Spider-Man!"

Speaking of the devil, Jonah Jameson also makes his debut in the strip. Onboard a taxi and headed for work, the brash journalist starts his day complaining all the way about nothing and everything at the same time.

- "Blasted traffic! I could get to the paper faster on foot--

If I could outrun the muggers!"

Jonah makes it to the Daily Bugle, and being the kind and caring person he is, tips the taxi driver 10 cents (accounting for inflation, the Consumer Price Index says this is the equivalent of 44 cents in 2020.)  With his day already ruined, Mr. Jameson enters the building, not knowing what awaits him once he gets upstairs!

- "Wow! A whole 10¢ tip! Now I can buy my own fleet!"

- "A dime? Blast it, I thought it was a nickel I gave 'im!

And he took it! What's wrong with this country!

Everyone rips you off!"

The rain has stopped, but the skies remain dark. Still with that crumpled newspaper in his back-pocket, Spider-Man swings through the city, and soon arrives in the offices of the Daily Bugle. He cannot believe the lengths to which Jonah has gone just to get rid of him.

- "I can guess the real reason Jonah Jameson wanted

Dr. Doom to come to America. He thinks Doom can do what

J.J.'s own newspaper can't do -- namely -- stomp out Spider-Man!"

As he sets foot on the building, Spidey reflects on how Jonah has no idea what he is getting into if he thinks he can emerge unscathed after getting involved with the dreadful Doctor Doom!

- "But if he thinks I'm a problem, wait'll he tries to deal with Doom!"

Spider-Man crawls his way to the window by Betty Brant's desk, and with a flirtatious comment, asks her to announce his presence to her boss, the ill-tempered Jonah Jameson.  Will the startled Betty Brant have the courage to bring the message?

- "Hi, pretty girl! How about telling your bird-brained boss that

his favorite web-swingin' wonder is here?"

It is revealed that Jonah Jameson, the editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle, pressured the United Nations using the newspaper into inviting Doctor Doom to its general assembly. Spider-Man puts the crumpled paper in his back-pocket and takes off.

- "Jonah Jameson used the power of his Daily Bugle

to persuade the U.N. to send for Dr. Doom! Sheesh"

Using his spider-webs to move through the city, and with Jonah Jameson in mind, Spidey heads to the offices of the Daily Bugle to have a serious conversation with the always cranky publisher.

- "Inviting the world's worst terrorist to address an anti-terrorism

conference -- is like inviting the mafia to preach to Baretta!

Okay, J.J. -- here's where you and ol' Spidey

have an eyeball to eyeball!"

Spider-Man makes fun of some pedestrians who astonished see him walk on the walls as he reads the newspaper he just purchased. The light moment turns somber when he reads the Daily Bugle's headline.

- "What's everyone staring at?

You's think they never saw a fella read a paper before!

Uh-oh!"

"Dr. Doom en route to U.S.A. Will address United Nations" reads the headline, next to a big picture of the super-villain with the caption "Victor Von Doom King of Latveria." Spidey's reaction is one of anger.

- "I knew it! I was afraid this would happen!"

Spider-Man is so upset that he crumples the paper in disbelief; one of the most dangerous super-villains on the planet will arrive in the U.S., and will get the diplomatic treatment!

- "Dr. Doom is coming to address the U.N.!

We've gotta be nuts to invite the world's

worst terrorist -- even if he is king of Latveria!"

The Amazing Spider-Man was a newspaper comic strip that ran daily for over 42 years, from 1977 to 2019. The series made its debut on January 3, 1977.

The first arc starts on a rainy morning in New York City, strangely enough not with Spider-Man, but with a newsstand seller, who suddenly sees one of his newspapers fly off the counter.

"It is a day like any day on New York's glamorous

Madison Avenue -- dismal, dreary and damp."

It is a copy of the Daily Bugle, and the headline reads "Dr. Doom en route to U.S." Just as the newspaper disappears from the salesman's sight, a spiderweb delicately carries a coin down in front of him. In 1977, daily papers were about $0.20, so it is safe to assume the coin was a quarter.

"Note how the unflappable residents of Fun City --

-- encounter the unexpected with their usual numb aplomb!"

Spider-Man makes his first appearance in the comic strip by revealing himself to Charlie, the newsstand seller. Charlie is beyond surprised, but the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man calms him down by explaining is here just to get updated on the latest news! 

- "I don't believe it! I don't believe it!"

- "Relax, Charlie. Even a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man

has to keep up with current events."
