Empyre is Marvel's main event of 2020, and stars the Avengers and the Fantastic Four against the Kree and the Skrulls. Empyre grows out of a number key Marvel stories, including the Kree-Skrull War, the Celestial Madonna Saga, the origin of the Young Avengers, and others.
For countless generations, the Kree and the Skrull races have been the dominant intergalactic powers. Both empires have tried to conquer or subvert the Earth, only to be met with defeat at the hands of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and other Super Heroes.
The Kree and Skrulls were more focused on annihilating each other than on achieving their goals on Earth. However, things change in the events of "Incoming," the opening salvo for "Empyre," and a big mystery that brings together the biggest heroes in the Marvel Universe.
