Mongul by Mike McKone and Tanya Horie

The first appearance of Imperiex takes place in a story told from the point of view of Lois Lane, who prepares for the final Christmas of the century. Her husband, the Man of Steel, is in outer space with the new Mongul, after briefly training on Earth in preparation for a big battle against what seems to be just the villain of the month.

After a quick and anti-climatic fight, the so-called "Destroyer of Galaxies" vanishes, and while Lois reflects on what Clark brings to her life, Superman teaches Mongul why there is true strength in holding back. Our hero returns home to the arms of her beloved, not knowing that what he just fought was nothing but a probe. The true Imperiex is a vast, much more menacing figure still unrevealed to him!

The true Imperiex revealed.
