Is Atrocitus being paranoid or is he doing exactly what Bleez wants him to? This is the ongoing theme of "The Departed" by Peter Milligan and Ed Benes. Atrocitus is already regretting his decision of giving Bleez her intelligence back, and in trying to do damage control, he might be painting himself -in red- into a corner. A lot takes place in this issue; from flashbacks, to backstories, to developments on Earth, while the leader of the Red Lanterns imparts his bloody brand of justice and tries to figure out whether his second in command is plotting against him. Damn you Peter Milligan for making us sympathize with these creatures and question whether their actions are justified; and Ed Benes, you are the best at drawing cute, scary monsters; except for one awkward Atrocitus face panel in pg 11, your work was impeccable. By the end of the issue, we know something big is coming!
