X-Men Legacy #259

"Half a Step" is Mike Carey's final story as writer of X-Men Legacy.  Serving as the "Five Miles" aftermath and a prelude to "Regenesis", this story was supposed to be the homecoming party for Havok, Polaris, and Marvel Girl, but instead it puts the space team in the middle of a new crisis created by their return.  While this is only the first of a two-parter, it looks like we won't get to see a conversation between Havok and Cyclops about their crazy brother Gabriel; or the promised Polaris-Magneto talk; does Xavier even know that Lilandra died? This transitional story could have been charged with character development, but being a Rogue-centric title, it is the catalyst for the southern belle's decision of joining Wolverine's gold team, which is anti-climatic because Marvel told us months ago who she was going to pick.  Koi Pham's art has improved much since "Mighty Avengers."
